Central West Benchmark Survey: Community and Stakeholder Beliefs About Natural Resource Management

The objectives of the project?

The main objective of the project was to benchmark the existing level of community attitudes, awareness and involvement in natural resource management in the Central West. At a later date the project may be repeated and any changes in community attitudes, awareness and involvement will be assessed again. By monitoring these changes over time the Central West CMA can better develop its programs and activities to improve the natural resource and environmental conditions in the region.

In addition to the primary objective, there were five additional objectives which were:

  1. To provide a profile of the stakeholders in natural resource management in the Central West catchment;
  2. To benchmark the Central West community's level of awareness and attitudes to natural resource management issues;
  3. To establish the Central West community's current level of involvement in NRM activities;
  4. To benchmark the Central West community's level of awareness of CW CMA; and
  5. To establish the most appropriate methods to engage key stakeholders and the wider Central West community in natural resource management and market the CWCMA.
